Roelf Mulder is the founder …XYZ Design, and one of Cape Town’s leading designers; a pioneer in the field of product design and a leader in Innovation and Design Thinking methodology in South Africa.
With a career spanning more than 30 years, Roelf combines expertise in design for sustainability, universal design, interaction design, service design, ergonomics, prototyping, product development, value engineering and design management, with a commitment to participatory and co-design practices. The results are innovations that have delivered substantial social impact and/or the realisation of economic development opportunities through the Design With Africa initiative.
Roelf served on the Council of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and other prominent design organisations where he chaired the Montebello Design Centre, and has served as board member for the Cape Craft and Design Institute. He is a founder member of the Cape Town Design Network, Network for Africa Designers, Design With Africa and his designs have been exhibited in various international Museums (Cooper-Hewitt, Museum of Modern Art (NY), Victoria and Albert).
